The Mission
Ladder of Life: A Kitten's Journey is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming vulnerable kittens while fostering a compassionate community. Through structured care and our unique ladder-themed approach, we ensure that every kitten progresses through essential developmental states, from rescue to adoption. Our mission includes providing a safe shelter, medical care, socialization, and education to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce the number of homeless kittens in our community.
About Jennifer McTighe
Founder of Ladder of Life: A Kitten’s Journey
Hi there! My name is Jennifer McTighe, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s that when you have a passion for something, it finds a way of calling you back—no matter where life takes you.
I grew up on a farm in the Upper Midwest, surrounded by animals of all kinds—horses, dogs, cats, geese, ducks, rabbits, cows—you name it! Caring for animals wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way of life. That love for animals led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology, which I proudly earned in 2013.
Shortly after graduating, I faced one of the biggest challenges of my life: breast cancer. That experience changed my path, and I made the decision to shift into real estate—a career that allowed me to continue working, while not being as physically demanding. But no matter what I did professionally, my heart always remained in animal rescue.
When my family and I moved to Arizona in 2019, I immediately sought ways to help displaced and vulnerable animals. I’ve owned and operated multiple businesses, but nothing has ever felt more important than this mission. I am currently the Neighborhood Leader for the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program, where I help manage and care for community cats. I also foster kittens for another rescue and share my home with a Great Pyrenees-Saint Bernard mix who keeps me on my toes!
Now, I’m taking the next step in my lifelong mission—founding Ladder of Life: A Kitten’s Journey. With the community’s support, I truly believe we can make a difference. This isn’t just a rescue; it’s a movement to give tiny, helpless kittens a fighting chance at a better life.
It’s important to me that anyone considering donating knows this: I am committed. I am educated. I am experienced. But most of all, I care deeply. This isn’t just a project; it’s my passion. And with your help, together, we can save lives—one kitten at a time.
